There are a number of different versions of the PhatBox, this page attempts to catalog them and list what Head Units they are compatible with. It is not yet complete, please update if you have more info, or more accurate info. Please only add information you know to be true.

You may convert any of the PhatNoise-branded boxes to any other compatible flavor, except that the Ford/Visteon one has different hardware and can't be converted as well as that some flavors (like Toyota, I think) require hardware not found in older PhatBoxes (like the original red ones).

To do this conversion, if you own a PhatBox (not OEM or Keg unit) you need to talk to PhatNoise customer service to purchase the cable you need. You can't order these cables via their web store, or if you do not have an invoice for a PhatBox purchased directly from them. You may be able to fabricate one yourself using the data from http://www.phathack.com/pinouts.html

Revision 1.0

Revision 1.1

  • Kenwood Music Keg
  • BMW PhatBox

VW/Audi PhatBox (OEM)

The VW/Audi Phatbox does not have RCA plugs, but audio IS present at the blank where the RCA plugs would be connected for other versions (J4/J5). You could cut a hole in the case to connect RCA plugs, or run a wire directly to the audio pins. The left audio (J4) is the pad nearer the Cable connection right audio is J5, and audio ground is near the back of the case.
