Anything we think we know about the purpose of the mentioned Phatbox files can be found here

Notice: all files having a corresponding .sig file are signed! This means they cannot be changed without being rejected by the PB! Changing them might prevent you from booting your PB!


System directories (HDD)

  • Data: mountpoint for PHTDATA partition
  • TTS: contains all SSA audio files

  • PhatMan.ini
  • RoyalLin.ux: old v1.0 kernel image (red box)
  • Welcome to PhatNoise.mp3: startup sound
  • WelcomeFileName.txt: startup sound config
  • WelcomeFileText.txt: startup sound SSA
  • blank.bif: File used to erase the headunit interface CPLD
  • blank.sig: signature, see above
  • forceupdate: if this file exists (touch) a firmware update (8051 reflash) is forced
  • hdparm: HDD config tool, sets DMA mode, queries drive etc.
  • hdparm.sig: signature, see above
  • linux: linux kernel image
  • linux.sig: signature, see above
  • phatbox.ini: Phatbox configuration file
  • pkeys2.e: Playlist signature's public key
  • pkeys2.sig: signature, see above
  • pkeysa.e: System files and DMS signature's public key
